Okay, I'm behind times, I didn't even know this was here. Love the pictures, cousin, especially the colored one since that's the way I remember her when all of you came to visit. Loved her and Uncle Harold (love you too.

Katherine,

Thank you for sharing your mom's stories. I listened to them with my husband, Ron, and Kim. We all enjoyed them so much. Ron grew up on a dairy farm and many of the stories brought back memories of his own life on the farm. Are there any more tapes that you will be adding? This was a wonderful way to give tribute to your mom. Thanks again.

Ahhh, I know just what she's talking about, smelling the locust blossoms! I had a couple of huge ones in my old backyard, most folks wouldn't have them in their yards but I really enjoyed mine.
As always, love the photograph.

Laura, It is so good to hear from you. I certainly appreciate the work you did on Mama's transcriptions. I plan to put a brief excerpt on the blog at least weekly as a gift to those who loved her. Thank you so much.

Marianne, Mama grew up in your neck of the woods. Also, she was a dedicated knitter (especially lace) and would have enjoyed seeing Bobby's Big Blankie.

Katherine,

What a great tribute to Rachel this is!

I was honored to help transcribe Rachel's audio recordings and what a pleasure it was to hear each and every one of her stories. She lived during a wonderful time in history, when families and communities worked hard together and didn't lead the complicated lives we often do now. I'll never forget some of those great stories and hearing her special voice.
